15th Jan 2015 - tonight's film Kiss The Water is cancelled due to the current snowy conditions & a bad forecast for tonight. We'll update later as to whether the film will be shown at a later date.
The Northern Lights Film Society was formed in 2004 by a group of friends who wanted to be able to show the type of films they wanted
to see & show them to the local, rural community. We are based in the Badenoch & Strathspey area, with members in Newtonmore, Kingussie, Insh, Kincraig, Aviemore, Inverdruie, Coylumbridge, Boat of Garten, Carrbridge & Grantown on Spey.
A season runs from September to April over the winter months, usually seven films before & seven after Christmas. Each season will show a true
variety of films - documentaries, Scottish film, World Cinema & the occasional blockbuster.
Each season we ask our members for suggestions for the next season & we also research what other film societies have been showing.
Films are shown Thursday nights, normally every two weeks. We show on DVD at Glenmore Lodge who have a lecture theatre with raked seating.
Start is 7.30pm prompt. Members have the option to retire to the upstairs bar after to discuss the film.
Over the years we have been fortunate in having to cancel only two films due to the winter weather. Committee members try to make the
decision as early as possible if we think a cancellation is warranted. We will then inform members in the following ways: by the email address given on the membership application form, posting the news on this website & alerting reception at Glenmore Lodge.
If in any doubt members can call a committee member or Glenmore Lodge on 01479 861256.
Please contact us via the 'Contact us' button above if you are interested in joining the Society or require more information.
